Down with work!

The profession of content creation is complicated. The Internet, social networks, media and cultural spaces are always demanding new products, causing many creators to live with frustration at the incongruity of making speeches about criticism of capitalism and hyperproductivity while being their own worst bosses. Can you make a living from creation without self-exploitation? Are our best hours of the day – and of life – occupied by work?

Panel

To talk about this topic, we have Juana Dolores, Christo Casas and Puto Mikel, three anti-capitalist thinkers and creators, specialists in fields as diverse as journalism, archaeology or dramatic arts with extensive experience on the internet and in cultural spaces.

Participants

Juana Dolores

Actress, playwright and stage director. Also poet and video artist. His work arises from the dialectic between politics and aesthetics. He published “Bijuteria” [Bijouterie]– and “I SI UNA NACIÓ DESFILANT PER UNA CATIFA VEMELLA –rèquiem català–” [WHAT IF A NATION WAS WALKING A RED CARPET –requiem catalán–] (2023, Ed. Poncianes). In the audiovisual field, he conceived and created “LIMPIEZA” (2020) and “MISS UNIVERSO” (2021). In the theater, he wrote, directed and performed “JUANA DOLORES, massa diva per a un movimiento assembleari” [JUANA DOLORES, too much diva for an assembly movement] (2019) and “HIT ME IF I’M PRETTY o la princesa moderna” (2023). It was translated into Spanish, Basque, French, German and Arabic. Her current lines of artistic research and experimentation focus on the agitating and propagandistic potential of the beauty of fiction and revolutionary realism, and on the study of femininity, sexuality, desire, eroticism and pornography.

Puto Mikel

Archaeologist and publicist. He combines his research with the dissemination of history and archaeology on social networks through his channel PutoMikel and in other media such as radio (Carne Cruda and RNE) and television (El Intermedio, El Condensador de Fluzo). He uses performance and drag to talk about history from more inclusive perspectives and the construction of discourses of the past. He has published the book “Sodomitas, vagas y maleantes: Historia de la España de Atapuerca a Chueca”, edited by Planeta, where he reviews the history of Spain from Prehistory following the common thread of sexual and gender dissidence and the role that these played in the creation of structures of oppression and surveillance.
