ZONA PRO. Addicted to true crime. With Sofá, manta y crimen; La crónica oscura and Spotify Podcast

There’s no arguing the point: we thrive a good mystery and we are fascinated by understanding human evil. The world of true crime is experiencing one of its finest moments, fueled by the success of the now-classic Catalan drama “Crims.” We want to discuss the format, the style, the setting, and the ethical conflicts through two Galician projects awarded by Spotify’s Radar Podcast initiative: “Sofá Manta y Crime” and “La crónica oscura.” We’ll also be joined by the Spotify Podcast team to analyze this phenomenon at the industry level.

Sofá, Manta y Crimen

“Sofá, manta y crimen” is a true crime podcast hosted by two lifelong friends in a relaxed tone that started as a horrible idea and ended up being, in fact, a horrible idea. However, they grew fond of telling stories and expressing their opinions, which ultimately fuels their lives. Their episodes consist of two true crime stories. First, one tells a story, and then it’s the other’s turn. And, of course, any resemblance to seriousness, rigor, or elegance is purely coincidental. They apologize in advance.

Ana Orellana, de La Crónica Oscura

Ana is Galician and a natural born communicator—literally—and, of course, passionate about true crime, horror, and the paranormal. One day she decided she wanted to share her unique hobby with others and connect with those who shared her interests. The solution? She created “The Dark Chronicle,” a podcast where she explores the most shocking crimes and the most chilling horror stories.
